More than 10 policemen fell ill and were admitted to hospital after eating carrot halwa from a shop in Jaipur. The Food Department raided the shop due to poor hygiene and sealed it and took samples for testing.
Jaipur: More than 10 policemen and employees of the police headquarters fell ill after eating sweets from a shop located in Lal Kothi, Jaipur. The officers had eaten ‘carrot pudding’, after which they fell ill. Sick policemen were admitted to ICU of different hospitals. These include two Additional SPs, one Deputy, one Circle Inspector, four to five Sub-Inspectors, one Head Constable and one ASI. Based on the complaint, the team of Food Department and Jaipur CMHO raided the sweet shop and collected samples for testing.
Carrot pudding turned poisonous, dozens of policemen in hospital
According to Food Safety Officer Naresh Kumar, there was lack of cleanliness in the shop, due to which there is a possibility of ‘Halwa’ getting spoiled. Based on the results of the investigation, the process of canceling the food license of the shop will be initiated and the shop will remain sealed until it follows the food safety laws. After getting the information, the team reached Shankar Mithai Bhandar shop. We raided. During the raid, several deficiencies were found. Due to hygiene issues, there is a strong possibility that the halwa was spoiled. Hence, the team has seized fake and readymade goods and collected samples. Based on the deficiencies found, in public interest, the process of canceling the license of the shop will be initiated…and the shop has been sealed until it is in compliance with the food safety laws.
In another similar incident, the Ghaziabad Food Safety Department conducted raids after receiving a complaint of adulteration in mustard oil from Zone 16. During investigation, the team found the shop dirty and adulterated goods were also found there. The department has taken samples of mustard oil and sent them for further testing so that adulteration can be detected.
