New Delhi: Novak Djokovic will take on Carlos Alcaraz in a mouth-watering clash in the US Open 2025 semi-finals as he aims to continue his pursuit of a record 25th Grand Slam title. While he has shown signs of slowing down, Djokovic hasn’t yet given up on his dream of surpassing Margaret Court to become the most successful singles player in tennis history.
With 24 titles to his name, Djokovic already holds the record for most Grand Slams won by a male player across eras. However, he is tied with Court for the most Grand Slam singles titles across categories. The Serbian ace has been chasing an elusive 25th major for quite some time now, but the title continues to elude him amid the rise of tennis’ next ‘Big 2’ – Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
Since Djokovic lifted his 24th Grand Slam trophy at the US Open in 2023, Alcaraz and Sinner have shared the next seven Slams between them. Djokovic has reached the semi-finals of all three Grand Slams in 2025 so far, but has failed to go the distance. Alcaraz, on the other hand, won the French Open and reached the final at Wimbledon earlier this year.
Alcaraz is heading into the semi-final clash on the back of a comfortable victory over Jiri Lehecka and will look to continue his impressive run, having not dropped a set yet in the tournament so far. Djokovic, on the other hand, has struggled with fitness throughout the tournament, but has managed to get past his opponents by utilising his experience.
