Carabao Cup first round draw in full as EFL clubs discover fate

The first round draw for the Carabao Cup has been concluded and the opening round of fixtures for this year’s tournament are now officially in the book.

It was Newcastle who emerged victorious in last year’s competition, beating Newcastle at Wembley back in March. But the Magpies and other Premier League sides were not involved in Thursday’s draw, which was just for EFL clubs.

A host of tasty looking ties have been thrown up by the draw, including Coventry City’s tie with Luton Town, which is a re-run of the 2023 Championship play-off final.
