On Monday evening, there was a sudden explosion in a car in the parking area near Gate No. 1 of Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi. 9 people have died in this blast while more than 24 people are injured. The explosion was so powerful that many vehicles nearby caught fire and there was chaos.
After the blast, a horrifying scene of debris and burning vehicles was seen. There was blood scattered in the surrounding area and people were in panic. Many vehicles were seriously damaged in the blast. The sound of the explosion was heard several kilometers away.
Many vehicles of the fire department reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire. Teams of police, special cell, National Investigation Agency (NIA) and bomb squad immediately reached the spot to investigate the incident. The area has been completely sealed and investigation is underway. The forensic team is also busy collecting evidence.
The injured were immediately admitted to the nearby hospital LNJP, where the condition of many remains critical. Delhi Police has declared high alert in the area and the National Security Guard (NSG) has also been activated. Security has also been tightened in many nearby states like Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
The police have not yet confirmed any terrorist conspiracy regarding the blast, but the incident is not being ruled out as a terrorist attack. In the initial investigation, the blast is said to be of high intensity, due to which the surrounding area was also affected.
Due to the impact on normal life, movement in the area has been completely stopped and people have been appealed not to travel untimely.
