Bangladesh Cricket Board has decided the name of the captain of its team for the 2027 World Cup. Along with this, the captain has also been selected for the 2028 T20 World Cup.

Big decision of Bangladesh

Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced that all-rounder Mehdi Hasan Miraj will remain the captain of the Bangladesh team till the 2027 ODI World Cup. BCB believes that captains should get a chance to work for a long time, so that they can prepare the team in a better way. Let us tell you, Mehdi Hasan Miraj was made the ODI captain last year. Now his captaincy has been extended till the 2027 World Cup.

Mehdi Hasan Miraj has performed well under captaincy. He led the team to victory against West Indies in October 2025 and against Pakistan in March 2026. BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Nazmul Abedin said that Mehdi has been leading the team for about a year and it is necessary to give him more time before the World Cup, so that he can strengthen the team.

Who will take command in the 2028 T20 World Cup?

Bangladesh Cricket Board has also decided that wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das will lead the T20 team till the 2028 T20 World Cup. Liton Das’s T20 captaincy was originally fixed till the 2026 T20 World Cup. But Bangladesh had withdrawn its name from that tournament to be held in India due to security reasons. Now Liton has been retained as captain till the 2028 T20 World Cup. Along with this, BCB has taken another important step. Former spinner Mohammad Rafiq has been appointed spin-bowling consultant for one year.
