New Delhi: An influential astrologer, Captain Ashok Kharat, has been apprehended for repeatedly raping a woman under the guise of spirituality in Nashik, Maharashtra.
Officials executed a well-planned operation to arrest Kharat from his farmhouse. The Maharashtra Police created a scene outside Kharat’s farmhouse by shouting ‘thief, thief,’ which allowed them to enter his residence and arrest him from the bedroom.
During police raids, a pistol, live cartridges, and several spent cartridges were recovered from his residence.
Police have put Kharat’s multiple properties under the scope of investigation after they recovered a pen drive that contains obscene video clips involving 58 different women.
The accused gained access to prominent political leaders and senior officers through numerology. A report suggested that he had a net worth of approximately Rs 200 crore.
During the investigation, Kharat’s major assets shocked everyone: he owned approximately 30 acres of land in survey numbers 132, 138, 203, 220, 33, 93, and 97 in the Pathardi area, worth approximately Rs 150 crore.
Additionally, he has 45 acres of land in Kahandalwadi, Mirgaon. Kharat owns a Rs 10-crore farmhouse behind the temple in Mirgaon and has separate land in Pathardi and Gulane Shivar (survey number 47) in the names of his wife, Kalpana, and daughters, Srishti and Triptabala, which is worth over Rs 30 crore.
Major assets in other areas
An office at Canada Corner is worth Rs 1 crore, and several lands near Ojhar Airport, Janori, and Dahava Mile Land in the area are worth around Rs 5 crore. Police also found out about another bungalow worth approximately 5 crore in Karmayogi Nagar. These properties are reportedly spread across various names and locations, and agencies are now investigating them.
