‘Can you start a party like me and get 30% votes?’ Vijay takes on critics at TVK Salem rally

Salem: In a powerful and emotional address at Salem Seelanayakkanpatti, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) leader and actor Vijay launched a blistering attack on his political detractors while asserting his party’s rapid rise as a formidable force in Tamil Nadu politics. Addressing a massive gathering, Vijay declared that his party has achieved a 30 percent vote share within just two years and challenged his critics to match his political success.

“Tamil Nadu is My Home, 8 Crore Tamilians Are My Family”

Vijay began his speech with a poignant rebuttal to those who question his political entry. “They say ‘come out of the house’… do you know what my home is? For me, my motherland Tamil Nadu is my home. There are 8 crore people in my home; the entire people of Tamil Nadu are my family, my relatives, my property,” he said, drawing loud cheers. The actor-turned-politician framed his political journey not as a quest for power but as a “search for justice” from the people who love him.

“We Have Become the Main Force in Two Years” — Vijay’s Challenge to Critics

Taking on those who mock his lack of political experience, Vijay countered sharply: “They say I have no experience. What other experience do they have except robbing people’s money? I have come to do good politics. I have not come to destroy anyone.” In his most aggressive political salvo yet, he challenged opponents: “Can you start a party like me and get 1 percent of the votes? Do you have the strength for that? We have become the main force in two years and we have 30 percent of the votes. Can you do this?”

Scathing Attack on DMK Rule: “Out of Control on All Fronts”

Vijay trained his guns squarely on the ruling DMK government, accusing Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s administration of being “out of control” on multiple fronts—law and order, women’s safety, and youth welfare. He alleged that established parties receive preferential treatment for meeting permissions while his party faces deliberate obstructions. “You know who is doing all this. That is why I am asking you for justice,” he told the crowd.

“Policy Politics, Not Loot Politics”

Positioning his party as a clean alternative, Vijay declared: “Policy politics is our politics. I will not do loot politics like you. My politics is politics that loves the people, politics that treats the people safely and lovingly. I can give that politics. I will show you.” His address signals an aggressive campaign mode for the TVK as it prepares for its electoral debut in the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections.
