After India’s humiliating loss against Ireland, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi could make his India debut in the second T20. The 15-year-old star has been in outstanding form over the last few months.
Recently, Vaibhav smashed a half-century off just 11 balls and ended up scoring 94 runs off 29 balls. He also smashed more than 700 runs in IPL 2026 with a strike rate of nearly 240. If he gets a chance to play, Vaibhav could even challenge the record for the fastest century in T20 International cricket.
Vaibhav Comes Into the Series in Great Form
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was one of the biggest stars of IPL 2026. He scored 776 runs during the season, which helped him earn his first call-up to the Indian team. Before joining the national side, he also played in the Tri-Series. In the final against Sri Lanka, the 15-year-old batter smashed 94 runs from just 29 balls.
How Many Balls Does Vaibhav Need for the World Record?
If Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gets his chance to make his debut, considering his recent form, it is highly expected that a century is just around the corner. However, if he wanted to score the fastest century in International cricket, he needed to achieve the milestone off or under 32 balls.
The current record is with Finn Allen and Sikandar Raza. Both batters smashed the fastest century among ICC full-member nations.
Fastest Centuries in T20 International Cricket
Here are the fastest T20I centuries among ICC Full Member nations:
33 balls – Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe)
33 balls – Finn Allen (New Zealand)
35 balls – David Miller (South Africa)
If Vaibhav reaches his hundred in 32 balls, he will become the new world record holder.
Rohit Sharma Holds India’s Record
The fastest century in International cricket records is with Rohit Sharma. He achieved this milestone off just 35 balls against Sri Lanka in 2017.
Abhishek Sharma is second on the list after scoring a century in 37 balls.
If Vaibhav gets a chance to bat against Ireland and continues his recent form, he could break India’s record and even create a new world record for the fastest T20 International century.
