Will Pakistan be able to survive a war with India? Former CIA officer John Kiriaku reveals shocking secrets about nuclear control, Operation Parakram and the Balakot strike that could change history. Read full disclosure.
New Delhi. John Kiriakou, a former officer of America’s intelligence agency CIA, has given such a statement which has created a stir in both Pakistan and India. He has said that if there ever was a conventional war between India and Pakistan, Pakistan would definitely lose. John Kiriakou, in an interview to ANI, shared many shocking facts about his 15 years of CIA experience and his days in counter-terrorism operations in Pakistan.
Did CIA already suspect India-Pakistan war?
Kiriakou said that after the 2001 Parliament attack, the CIA feared that a nuclear war could break out between India and Pakistan. At that time, America had also started evacuating its citizens from Pakistan for security reasons. He revealed that there was deep uneasiness between Washington and Islamabad during that period.

“Musharraf handed over nuclear control to America”
The biggest claim he made was that Pakistan’s then President Pervez Musharraf had handed over the control of his nuclear weapons to the Pentagon. He said that at that time he was informally told that America itself monitors Pakistan’s nuclear weapons. John Kiriakou has said that “Musharraf was afraid of terrorist threats, so he gave nuclear control to America.”
Kiriakou said, there is no use in provoking India
Kiriakou said that Pakistan has to understand that it will not gain anything from a war against India. He clearly said, “Nothing good will come from a real war between India and Pakistan, because Pakistan will lose. I am not talking about a nuclear war, but a conventional war.” He warned that provoking India would only harm Pakistan, as India has taken extremely tough measures in response to terrorist attacks in the past years – such as the 2016 surgical strikes, the 2019 Balakot strike, and the 2025 Pahalgam attack followed by Operation Sindoor.
“US could have killed AQ Khan, but… Kiriakou”
John Kiriakou made another big claim and said that if America wanted, it could have eliminated Pakistan’s nuclear bomb maker Abdul Qadir Khan (AQ Khan), but it was not done on the request of Saudi Arabia. “We knew where AQ Khan lived, but the Saudi government said – don’t kill him, we are working with him,” he said.
CIA’s priority was Afghanistan, not India
Kiriakou admitted that the CIA’s focus during that period was mainly on Afghanistan and al-Qaeda. India’s concerns were not given that much importance, because America’s attention at that time was towards the global threat of terrorism.
CIA officer John Kiriakou becomes whistleblower
John Kiriakou later became a whistleblower in 2007. He had revealed the CIA’s “torture program” in a TV interview. After this he was jailed for 23 months, but the charges were later dropped. He has said that “I have no regrets, I did what was right.”
