Police have registered a case against the coach for sexually assaulting a female shooter in Faridabad district of Haryana. The FIR was registered after a detailed complaint by the victim’s family.
The police are now investigating the matter. Police said that this incident took place in a hotel last month. The 18-year-old player was a minor at the time of the incident. According to the complaint given to the police, the incident took place on December 16 last year. A day before this, the player had taken part in a national level shooting competition at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Academy in Delhi. Police said the accused coach is one of the 13 national pistol coaches appointed by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI). The accused coach has been suspended.

In the complaint given to the police, it has been alleged that the coach had called the shooter to meet him in the lobby of a hotel located in Surajkund, Faridabad. The coach had said that he would analyze his performance and discuss the shooting in detail. On this pretext, the coach put pressure on the player to go into the room. He told the player that discussions would be held in a better way there. After going into the room, the coach allegedly sexually assaulted the player. The coach did not stop even when the victim protested.
Police imposed many sections including POCSO
The FIR also alleges that the coach threatened to ruin her career and harm her family if she told anyone about the incident. The victim left the hotel in shock after the incident and later narrated her ordeal to her family, after which a complaint was lodged with the police. The police have asked the hotel owners to immediately share all the CCTV footage of the day of the incident. However, the accused has not been arrested yet nor has any notice been issued to him. On the basis of the complaint, the police have registered a case under several sections including POCSO.
