BYD Denza Luxury Brand Teased Before India Launch

Denza’s upcoming launch in India is part of BYD’s broader push towards the luxury electric segment

will soon launch its ultra luxury automotive brand ‘Denza’ in India. The first Denza models expected to be introduced here include the Denza D9 luxury electric MPV and the Denza Z9 GT high performance electric fastback. Both models will arrive here as CBUs and be sold via exclusive Denza showrooms. Denza cars will be positioned above BYD’s existing lineup in India, offering a more premium experience. Ahead of the launch, Denza India has released its first official teaser.

Denza D9 Luxury MPV

In the teaser, Denza has not provided any details of the models that will be launched in India. A specific launch timeline is also not available. It is expected that the carmaker could start its innings in India with the Denza D9 and Denza Z9 GT. Denza D9 is positioned as a premium 7-seater electric MPV. It will challenge rivals like  ,Mercedes-Benz V-Class, and Lexus LM.

Dimensionally, Denza D9 is 5,250 mm long, 1,960 mm wide and around 1,920 mm tall, with a 3,110 mm wheelbase. Exterior profile is presented in a modern, elegant design with features such as a distinctive ?-Motion front grille, full width tail lights, powered bidirectional sliding doors, soft closing doors, a large panoramic sunroof and 18 inch alloy wheels.

Inside, Denza D9 offers a lounge-like experience. Key features include high quality Nappa leather upholstery, open pore wood trim and ambient lighting. The MPV has second row Air Spa zero gravity captain’s chairs with extensive electric adjustment (up to 14-way), leg rests, heating, ventilation, 16-point massage and recline up to 152°.

A multi screen setup includes a 15.6 inch central touchscreen, a 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster, passenger display and optional rear entertainment screens. Across global markets, Denza D9 is available in both PHEV and EV versions. India will be getting only the latter, which could be equipped with a 103–115 kWh Blade battery. Globally, both FWD and AWD versions are available. Range of Denza D9 is up to 800 km, depending on the market.

Denza Z9 GT

A sleek five-seat shooting-brake grand tourer, the Denza Z9 GT is 5,195 mm long, 1,990 mm wide and 1,490 mm tall, with a 3,125 mm wheelbase. It follows Wolfgang Egger’s design language, featuring a low, elongated profile with dual-bar headlights and active aerodynamic elements. Other exterior highlights include a large rear diffuser and distinctive tail lights. Denza Z9 GT has premium features such as rear-wheel steering and crab-walk capability.

Inside, key features include soft Nappa leather, a larger 17.3 inch floating central touchscreen and dual 13.2 inch displays for the driver and front passenger. There’s a large AR-HUD (up to 50-inch) and optional digital side-mirror screens as well. Seats have ventilation, heating and massage functions. Other key highlights include dual 50 W wireless chargers, a panoramic glass roof and a 20-speaker, 1,150 W Devialet system with Dolby Atmos.

Denza Z9 GT uses a high-performance triple-motor setup. The pure electric version uses Blade LFP batteries of around 100–122.5 kWh. Output is around 710–850 kW (~ 952–1,156 PS) and over 1,100 Nm, achieving 0–100 km/h in 2.7–3.4 seconds. Top speed is rated at 270 km/h, whereas range is around 600 km. Denza Z9 GT supports ultra-fast charging, with 10% to 97% achievable in around 9 minutes.
