Prior to the assembly elections in Bihar, the Bihar government has launched a new scheme to make women self -reliant. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday approved the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Employment Scheme’, which will provide financial assistance to women to start business. Under this scheme, a woman of every family of the state will be given Rs 10,000 as the first installment.

This money will be sent directly to the bank account of women and its purpose is to strengthen women financially. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar gave information about this scheme on social media platform ‘X’ (first Twitter). He said that his government has always given priority to women empowerment and this scheme is an important step in this episode.

Money will be available from September 2025

The government has also made it clear that the payment of funds to women under this scheme will start from September 2025. Any women who take advantage of this scheme will be given an amount of Rs 10,000 first. After this, when the woman starts her work, an assessment will be done after six months. If it is observed that the woman is running her employment properly and needs more help to pursue her, then the government can also provide additional assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh.

Big step for the financial strength of women

The Chief Minister said in his statement that since his government has taken several steps to strengthen women. Whether it is to give reservation to women in Panchayati Raj or the cycle scheme for girls’ education has given women a chance to move forward. He said that today the women of Bihar are becoming self-sufficient and are playing a big role in the development of the state along with their family.
