In the last few years, the central government has invested heavily in highway, metro and railway projects in West Bengal. The Kolkata-Siliguri corridor, national highway expansion and port-linked infrastructure have already been in focus. The recently started Howrah-Guwahati Vande Bharat Sleeper train has made it clear that Railways can become a big weapon of the government in this state. 101 railway stations and investment of about ₹13,000 crore under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, this figure may increase further in Budget 2026.
