BTS member V is set to release a one-of-a-kind rendition of the late jazz singer Bing Crosby’s 1942 song White Christmas as a duet, the Korean boy band announced on Wednesday.
The song will drop across music streaming platforms on December 6.
“White Christmas – V & Bing Crosby, Dec 6, 2 PM (KST) | 0 AM (ET),” the official handle of BTS wrote alongside a graphic poster featuring Crosby and V’s pet dog, Yeontan.
The upcoming single will be a remix of the original version, in which the 28-year-old singer will join the legendary singer, marking it as an era-bridging project. Set to be released as a duet, the song arrives nearly 47 years after Crosby’s final duet, his 1977 collaboration with David Bowie on Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy.
The song was originally recorded and featured in the 1942 film Holiday Inn. Bing Crosby’s beloved song White Christmas later became a highlight of the 1954 movie White Christmas. It remains one of the best-selling singles of all time. Crosby passed away in 1977. The new version is backed by Bing Crosby Estate, Primary Wave Music and Geffen Records.
Currently, V is serving in the South Korean military along with his other bandmates – Suga, RM, Jimin and Jungkook. His new single FRI(END)S came out on March 15. He also appeared in the music video for K-pop artist IU’s single Love Wins All, which was released on January 24.
