BTS’ Jungkook Reveals He Has Adult ADHD: What The Diagnosis Means And Why Fans Are Defending His Honest Confession

It’s a special day for the global superstar-BTS’ Jeon Jungkook turns a year older today (September 1). But beyond the birthday wishes and celebrations flooding timelines, the youngest member of BTS is making headlines for a heartfelt revelation that has touched fans worldwide.

During a Weverse live on August 29, shortly after BTS returned to South Korea from a U.S. music shoot, Jungkook admitted that he has adult ADHD. This came after a fan commented on his fidgeting, asking him not to move around so much while sitting. Jungkook, in his candid way, responded, “I have it. I keep moving like this.”

What Is ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a medical condition that affects a person’s ability to focus, sit still, or control impulses. While it typically begins in childhood, many people continue to experience symptoms into adulthood. For adults, this can show up as restlessness, constant movement, difficulty concentrating, or challenges with time management. Though often misunderstood, ADHD is a recognised neurodevelopmental disorder, and many people manage it with coping mechanisms or professional support.

Why Jungkook’s ADHD Revelation Matters

The confession sparked immediate waves of support from fans who rushed to Jungkook’s defence against the online criticism he’s been facing. For months, his natural tendency to move around during livestreams had attracted negative comments, with some telling him to “sit still.” Fans, many of whom also identify as neurodivergent, pointed out that fidgeting and stimming are common coping mechanisms and shouldn’t be mocked.

Social media quickly lit up with praise for Jungkook’s openness. One fan wrote, “His casual attitude about it :’) the way both Jungkook & Yoongi talk about their ADHD is so lovely to me.” Another commented, “Jungkook saying he’s neurodivergent, now everyone can stop commenting weird sh* telling him to stop what he can’t control.”

Others expressed how validating his words felt: “#Jungkook saying on live he has ADHD and he keeps moving because of that – I’ve never felt more seen. I am constantly told not to shake my legs or move when I’m sitting, BUT I CAN’T HELP IT.”

Many fans also slammed the trolls who pushed him to reveal something so personal. “How are people even shameless enough to demand that??” one fan tweeted in frustration. Another suggested taking action against the person who made the comment: “Can we find out who made that comment and mass report that user ????” Inspite of the hassles around the live stream, Jungkook’s openness not only humanised him further to fans but also helped shed light on ADHD, a condition still surrounded by stigma and misunderstanding.
