BTS member Jungkook is currently serving in the military and will return to showbiz in 2025. Despite his short absence from the limelight, Jungkook has been grabbing the attention and achieving new milestones in his career.
The singer was recently included in Universal Music Group (UMG)’s list of top album-selling artists of the fourth quarter of 2023. He has also become the only K-pop solo artist to be named in the list. For the unversed, Jungkook released his solo album ‘Golden’ before joining the military.
According to Universal Music Group (UMG), Jungkook’s solo album ‘Golden’ became one of the highest-selling albums of 2023 as it sold over 2.6 million copies on Hanteo in its first week.
‘Golden’ features 11 tracks including ‘Standing Next To You”Closer To You’, which will feature Jamaican-American DJ trio Major Lazer, among others. The other tracks are: ‘Yes or No’, ‘Please Don’t Change’, ‘Somebody’, ‘Shot Glass of Tears’, ‘Hate You’ and ‘Too Sad to Dance’. Jungkook will team up with popular international artists like Shawn Mendes and Ed Sheeran for ‘Golden’.
Announcing Jungkook’s album, BigHit Music said, “Hello. This is BIGHIT MUSIC. We are excited to announce the release of BTS member Jung Kook’s solo album ‘GOLDEN.’ ‘GOLDEN’ is an album inspired by the golden moments of Jung Kook, the golden maknae of BTS and a solo artist.”
Jungkook also conducted a ‘Golden’ Live On Stage concert ahead of his military. BigHit Music wrote, “Hello. This is BIGHIT MUSIC. We are excited to announce Jungkook’s “GOLDEN” Live On Stage with the fans on Monday, November 20, 2023, celebrating the release of Jungkook’s solo album, GOLDEN.”
On the work front, Jungkook released two singles ‘Seven (feat. Latto)’ and ‘3D (feat. Jack Harlow)’ before releasing his album.
