BSF Foils Infiltration Bid: Pakistani Intruder Shot At, Arrested Along International Border In J&K’s Kathua

Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir: A Pakistani intruder was shot at and arrested in an injured condition by the Border Security Force (BSF) along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Monday, August 11, reported PTI citing officials.

The BSP troops opened fire on observing movement of a group of people attempting to sneak into this side along the international border.

The intruders were noticed by the alert Border Security Force (BSF) troops between Chandwan and Kothey border outposts in the Hiranagar sector around 4 pm and were challenged to stop, the report said.

The BSF troops warned the intruders; however, they paid no heed to the repeated warnings, prompting the BSF personnel manning the forward posts to open fire, resulting in injuries to one of the intruders.

The injured intruder was arrested and immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment, the officials said.

The identity and the motive behind his abortive attempt to infiltrate into this side is being investigation.

This comes as the security forces have intensified anti-terror operations in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The anti-terror operation in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir entered its 11th day on Monday as security forces tried to squeeze the cordon around the terrorists. In one of the longest active encounters in recent years in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to officials, the terrorists seem to be highly trained in jungle warfare and are taking advantage of dense foliage to evade detection by drones. Security forces have pressed drones and helicopters into service to track the terrorists down in the forest area.

“The operation is still in progress. The security forces are trying to close in on the positions of the hiding ultras,” an official said, as quoted by PTI.

Two Army soldiers have been killed since the encounter began on August 1 in the Akhal forest area of Kulgam. Two terrorists have also been gunned down in the encounter.

Meanwhile, an encounter is also underway in Kishtwar area of Jammu and Kashmir district. It was launched on Sunday as the security personnel exchanged while establishing contact with terrorists on August 10.

In a post on X, the White Knight Corps stated that troops conducting an intelligence-based operation established contact with terrorists in the area. “Contact with #Terrorists Alert Indian Army troops while carrying out an intelligence based operation have established contact with terrorists in general area of Dul in Kishtwar in early hours of 10 Aug 2025. Gunfire exchanged. Operation under progress,” the Army’s White Knight Corps posted on X.
