England’s fast bowler Brydon Carse will not face any charges related to an alleged assault, as Derbyshire Police have concluded their investigation, according to reports.

Last month, a video surfaced showing Carse in handcuffs after being arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct due to intoxication at Molly Malones in Wardwick, Derby. Although he was later released, Carse was omitted from England’s Test squad for the home series against Pakistan, which England won decisively with a 3-0 scoreline. The scrutiny surrounding England’s drinking culture has intensified, especially following incidents involving players like Harry Brook, Ben Duckett, Jacob Bethell, and former captain Ben Stokes. Consequently, Carse was also excluded from the ongoing T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Police Investigation Concluded
Following their inquiry, police determined that the alleged victim did not wish to pursue any complaints, leading to the closure of the case. A police statement confirmed, “An investigation into reports of an assault in Derby city centre has been closed. Officers attended Molly Malones in the Wardwick, Derby, in the early hours of Sunday, 23 August. A man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and was then de-arrested after his details were taken by officers.”
Cricket Regulatory Body to Investigate
Carse is now subject to an investigation by the Cricket Regulator. At the time of the incident, he was actively participating in County Cricket for Durham and was included in the squad for the initial two Tests against Pakistan. His current contract with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is set to expire in September 2027.
