In Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, three armed men gang-raped a woman in front of her brother-in-law. The accused were acquaintances of the brother-in-law and also made a video of the incident. Police have registered the case and started investigation.
Rudrapur: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Rudrapur in Uttarakhand late on Sunday night. Here three armed men allegedly gang-raped a married woman in front of her brother-in-law. There is anger in the area after this incident and serious questions are being raised regarding the safety of the people. According to the police, the woman was returning with her brother-in-law from the Saras fair held in Gandhi Park at around 9 pm. Then the attackers who came riding on two motorcycles stopped them near Modi Maidan on Kichha Bypass. The shocking thing is that the attackers are said to be known to the woman’s brother-in-law.
Gang rape of woman one by one in front of brother-in-law
According to the police report, the accused threatened to shoot both of them and forcibly took the woman to an isolated place near the cold road. There they took turns raping the women in front of their brother-in-law. When the woman protested, one of the accused stabbed her on her left hand with a knife. After this, he also made a video of this entire incident and threatened that if a complaint was made to the police, he would post the video on social media.
Later the victim lodged a complaint at Rampur police post, on the basis of which a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code. A police team has been formed to investigate the attack. The police are also interrogating the brother-in-law as the accused were known to him.
Officials have stressed that as per Supreme Court directions, the identity of the victim in sexual assault cases will be kept confidential. There is a lot of anger among the local people and activists regarding this brutal crime and they are demanding the arrest of the accused as soon as possible and strict punishment.
