Brother-sister duo alleges assault by club bouncers in Delhi’s Shangri-La Hotel

New Delhi: A night of celebration ended in violence for a young man and his female cousin at a luxury nightclub in central Delhi, after they were allegedly beaten and thrown out by bouncers. The incident occurred in the early hours of July 2 at Priveé Club, located within the upscale Shangri-La Hotel on Ashoka Road.

Vijay Malhotra, a resident of Krishna Park in Tilak Nagar, had arrived at the club with his cousin sister around 12:30 AM to attend a party. According to the police, the situation took a turn for the worse around 4:00 AM when Vijay went to use the restroom and noticed water overflowing from a faulty flush. A member of the cleaning staff reportedly blamed him for causing the damage, sparking a heated exchange.

Pair forcibly dragged and pushed outside the club

The confrontation escalated when two bouncers intervened. Vijay was allegedly shoved and pushed towards the exit, and when he resisted, the bouncers physically assaulted him. His cousin, who attempted to defuse the situation, was also attacked. The brother-sister pair were then forcibly dragged out of the hotel premises.

After managing to call the police using the emergency helpline 112, the injured duo were taken to Lady Hardinge Medical College for medical attention. By the time officers reached the spot, the bouncers involved had already fled.

Complaint lodged, CCTV footage being examined

Connaught Place police have registered a case and launched an investigation. CCTV footage is being reviewed, and club staff are being questioned to determine the sequence of events and identify those responsible.
