Brooklyn Beckham controversy: Brooklyn Beckham has broken his silence with a startling and deeply personal statement, accusing his parents, David Beckham and Victoria Beckham, of controlling his life and damaging his marriage to Nicola Peltz.
The six-page note, shared on social media, has sent shockwaves through fans of the famous family and reignited speculation around their long-rumoured rift.
Brooklyn Beckham accuses David and Victoria of controlling his life
Brooklyn, 26, claimed his parents have repeatedly interfered in his personal choices and continued to leak stories to the press. He said the constant media narrative left him with no option but to speak publicly. “Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed. I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life (sic),” he wrote.
In another strong passage, Brooklyn alleged that his parents went to extreme lengths to protect their public image. “Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out,” he added.
Brooklyn Beckham claims vow renewal was needed to heal wedding trauma
The statement also revisited tensions surrounding his wedding to Nicola. Brooklyn claimed his mother pulled out of designing Nicola’s wedding dress at the last minute, despite earlier enthusiasm, forcing a rushed search for an alternative. He further described a moment from the wedding reception that still troubles him. According to Brooklyn, singer Marc Anthony invited him on stage for what was meant to be his first dance with Nicola. Instead, his mother was waiting and danced with him. Brooklyn said the incident left him feeling “uncomfortable and humiliated”.
To heal from that experience, Brooklyn revealed that he and Nicola renewed their vows in 2025, hoping to replace the painful memory with something joyful.
He also made a serious allegation that, weeks before the wedding, his parents “repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name”. While he did not clarify which rights were involved, he said refusing the deal “affected the payday” and changed their relationship permanently.
Brooklyn ended the statement on a quieter note, opening up about living with severe anxiety while growing up. Since distancing himself from his parents, he said that anxiety has disappeared. Today, he and Nicola want only one thing: “a quiet life filled with peace and privacy.”
