Brain bio bank in delhi: There is a steady increase in cases of suicides worldwide. WHO has also expressed concern over the matter. 1,64, 033 cases of suicide were registered in NCRB’s 2021 data. Which is 7.2 percent more than the year 2020. These increasing cases of suicide are worrisome. In view of this concern, research is being done on what a person thinks about killing himself. Why is this research important? Will they help stop suicide? Will understand all this.
Suicide is not just a result of anatomical or economic pressure, but many times there are such biological and mental reasons behind it. People do not know about these reasons. To understand this confusion, a unique initiative has been taken in Delhi which will be called Brain Bio Bank. AIIMS of Delhi has created this bank. In which samples of the brain of people who have committed suicide will be kept. Which will be studied for the next 5 years.
What is brain bio bank?
- Brain Bio Bank is a type of bank which is a scientific system where brain samples will be protected from people who commit suicide. By storing these samples, doctors will examine them and after studying they will find out what they think in the minds of the people who commit suicide.
- The bank will include samples of three parts of the brain like PFC, hipocampus, emigdala. Let us tell you that these parts of the brain help in deciding. It will be known which biological and mental reasons behind the tendency of suicide.
Why is this research important?
Dr. Chittaranjan Mehra in AIIMS Forensic Department According to, 1.7 lakh people commit suicide every year in India. In these cases, the age of those who commit suicide is 20 to 40 years. If people of this age commit suicide, then the reason behind this is considered to be mental stress, job problems, sour income financial constraints in relationships. But actually there are many chemical and biological changes in the brain, which forces the insial to take such steps. To understand this pressure, research of brain bio bank is needed.
