New Delhi: The Brabus Bodo coupe was officially unveiled last week, and it is bonkers to look at. It is named after Brabus’s late founder, Bodo Buschmann, and is the brainchild of Buschmann’s son Constantin, who runs the brand currently. It is the one car that Constantin noted his father wanted in the press release, so it is getting built before Brabus’s 50th anniversary.
Production will be limited to 77 cars in tribute to 1977, which is the brand’s founding year. The Bodo is based on the V12 Aston Martin Vanquish and sits at 16.6 feet in length and 6.6 feet in width. The Bodo comes with the same footprint as the Mercedes-Benz GLS class. It is 4,2 feet tall, with the extra-long hood and teardrop tail framing the passenger compartment.
Coming in the usual Brabus black, with its menacing vertical-bar grille and the glaring headlights, it comes with a very intense vibe.

For performance, the Bodo comes with a Brabus-built, twin-turbocharged, 5.2 litre V12 that makes 1,000 hp and 1200 Nm of torque. The power is sent to the rear wheels, and that makes the 1774 kg Bodo do 0-100 kph in 3 seconds, as claimed by Brabus. The top speed has been limited to 359 kph. This could be because the Continental SportContact 7 Force tyres it rides on are limited to 370 kph.
The tyre size, at the front, is 275/35 ZR 21, and the back is 325/30 ZR 21 and are mounted to forged monoblock wheels chosen because of minimal weight. Further, the carbon-fibre bodywork pulls the weight down and is draped over an aluminium monocoque chassis. It also comes with carbon-ceramic brakes with 16.1-inch front and 14.1-inch rear rotors. The suspension features electronically controlled KW coilovers with multiple driver-selectable settings
In fact, the Bodo chassis comes from a Mercedes-AMG SL. The inside, too, looks like the Mercedes, though Brabus supplies its own black leather upholstery. There are four driving modes, which are Wet, GT, Sport and Sport+, which all tune the engine’s response differently.
