In this country Gandhiji is respected by calling him Mahatma. Whenever a foreign guest comes to India, as per protocol, he first goes to Rajghat in Delhi and offers flowers at Gandhiji’s mausoleum. Only after this he takes part in his other programs. But some boys have misbehaved with the statue of Gandhiji who is given so much respect. Now this incident has also taken a political turn.
Incident happened in Uttar Pradesh
This shocking incident happened from Rampur Garden area in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. Here some youths did very derogatory acts with the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. These boys climbed the statue of Gandhiji and started doing strange acts by touching the ears and lips of the statue. The video of this entire incident is becoming increasingly viral on social media, seeing which people have become angry. People are demanding that strict action be taken against the culprits and the local administration should take immediate action.
The case took political color
There have been several incidents of vandalism or damage to Gandhiji’s statues in foreign countries. But this time some youth within the country have done such a shameful act, have made a video of it and are laughing at it. There is also a reason for this matter taking a political colour. The boys seen in the video appear to be from the Muslim community.
People are asking questions to Congress leaders
People are writing on social media that it is not right for boys from the same community which Gandhiji always respected and did so much for, to do this. People are questioning Congress leaders as to what action they will take on this. Some users are also making sharp comments. One user wrote, “Only the Congress vote bank is doing such things. If anyone else had done this, there would have been an uproar in the entire country by now. But why is everyone sitting silent even after the video has gone so viral?”
