Shakib Al Hasan has surprised everyone with his recent statement. He revealed that while playing with Surrey in the year 2024, he bowled in a suspicious action. It was clear from Shakib’s words that he did this deliberately. Shakib was also suspended due to that illegal bowling. Shakib has made this disclosure in the Beard Before Wicket podcast. Last year itself, in December, independent testing of Shakib Al Hasan’s bowling action was conducted, which was declared illegal by Loughborough University. After that he was banned from bowling not only in all ECB matches but also in international cricket.

Shakib Al Hasan’s big confession

Bangladesh’s legendary all-rounder told in the podcast that he deliberately bowled in suspicious action. According to Shakib, he had bowled more than 70 overs in a match. Never before in his career had he bowled 70 overs in a Test. Shakib told that he was very tired in the 4-day match he played for Surrey against Somerset in Taunton.

Shakib said in the podcast that he had gone to play in that 4-day match after playing the Test series in Pakistan. Shakib said that all the umpire could have done was to give him a warning, which was within his rights and as per the rules. That’s why he didn’t complain about it.

Said this while returning from retirement

Shakib made another revelation in the Beard Before Wicket podcast and said that he has not officially retired from international cricket yet. His intention now is to return to Bangladesh and retire there after playing one Test, one T20 and one ODI series. Shakib Al Hasan has not returned to Bangladesh after May 2024. Whereas he also played his last international match last year against India in Kanpur.
