Borussia Dortmund Triumphs 2-0 Against Hoffenheim, Ending Their Unbeaten Streak

Julian Brandt and Nico Schlotterbeck were pivotal in Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 victory over Hoffenheim, extending their unbeaten run to six Bundesliga matches.

Hoffenheim, also on a six-game unbeaten streak, failed to respond after Dortmund scored on either side of the break. The match began evenly, with Wouter Burger’s long-range shot being saved by Gregor Kobel.

Brandt’s initial attempt was blocked by Oliver Baumann, but he found success in the 43rd minute. Yan Couto’s low cross allowed Brandt to score from close range. Shortly after halftime, Daniel Svensson’s header was saved. However, Schlotterbeck secured the win by scoring from a corner despite slipping.

Dortmund nearly increased their lead when Serhou Guirassy hit the crossbar with only Baumann to beat. Despite the scoreline, both teams had similar chances. Dortmund had 1.26 expected goals (xG) from eight shots compared to Hoffenheim’s 1.22 xG from 11 attempts.

Brandt made his mark by scoring in his 200th Bundesliga appearance for Dortmund. He contributed significantly with two shots on target and 0.79 xG to Dortmund’s total. The team remains unbeaten in their last ten home games (W8 D2), a stark contrast to winning just one of their previous seven home matches.

Oliver Baumann reached an unfortunate milestone by losing his 190th Bundesliga match, equalling Eike Immel’s record for most defeats by a goalkeeper in the competition. Meanwhile, Dortmund celebrated another clean sheet at home.

This victory highlights Dortmund’s strong form at home as they continue their impressive unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga.
