The BMW Z4 may be approaching the end of its production, but digital artist Luca Serafini has offered a vision of what a next-generation Neue Klasse-inspired Z4 could look like.
His rendering imagines a compact roadster that blends BMW’s classic proportions with a sharper, more modern design language.
Serafini’s concept reinterprets the Z4 with smaller kidney grilles, sleeker headlights, and an aggressive front bumper, giving the roadster a sportier and more contemporary presence. The side profile has been refined with cleaner lines and muscular contours, while subtle updates to the rear maintain the model’s signature proportions.
The existing Z4 has been a key part of BMW’s lineup for over three decades, tracing its roots back to the Z1 in 1989. Known for offering an alternative to the brand’s larger sedans and SUVs, the roadster has maintained a loyal following. However, production is expected to cease in 2026, leaving BMW without a small sports car in its portfolio.
The uncertainty surrounding the Z4 has been compounded by Toyota’s exit from the joint production of the Z4 and GR Supra, which had helped both brands share costs. While Serafini’s rendering sparks excitement, BMW has not confirmed plans to produce a new Z4, leaving the artist’s vision purely speculative.
For now, Luca Serafini’s rendering provides a glimpse into a possible future for the Z4, merging Neue Klasse styling with the roadster’s iconic proportions. Whether BMW chooses to bring such a vision to life remains uncertain.
