New Delhi: BMW revealed the M3 Touring GT race car last year as an April Fool’s prank, but now actually turned it into reality. The response to BMW’s cheeky pursuit put so much limelight on it that the German manufacturer decided to produce it and race it at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring in May of this year.
The wagon shares the same technical aspects and specs as the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. Under the bonnet, the BMW comes with a turbocharged 3,0-litre inline six-engine that can make around 590 bhp. The biggest difference happens to be on the outside, with a carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic body shell that replicates the wagon.

How BMW M3 Touring 24H came to be
The automaker had started ideating for the race version of the M3 Touring as soon as the car had made its debut in 2022. Three years down the line, the automaker started planning the April Fool’s joke, commissioning the creation of professional rendering before revealing it on April 1st, 2025.
The response was quite overwhelming, which resulted in BMW giving a green signal to the previously conceived project in August and starting to develop it in September, and will have the car ready in just eight months. The automaker started validating the car last month before it goes racing in the SPC class in some months, a different class than BMW’s M4 GT3. Following this, the BMW will take the wagon on tour.
BMW M3 Touring 24H will go racing around Nurburgring
Amazingly, BMW has actually heeded its community’s demand, and it will be quite something to watch a wagon race around the Nurburgring.
