BMW F 450 GS variants explained: What separates Base, Exclusive and GS Trophy versions

New Delhi: BMW has launched the new F 450 GS in India as its most affordable GS adventure motorcycle, replacing the older G 310 GS. The bike comes in three variants: Base, Exclusive and GS Trophy. Each version of the motorcycle is equipped with more features for touring and off-road riding.

The new motorcycle gets a major upgrade over its predecessor with a 420cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine instead of a single-cylinder setup. It produces 48hp at 8,750rpm and 43 Nm at 6,750rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. While all three variants use the same engine and platform, the differences lie in equipment and rider aids.

Base variant gets key essentials

Priced at around Rs 4.70 lakh (ex-showroom), the base variant comes with several features despite being the entry-level option. It gets a 6.5-inch TFT display along with BMW’s rotary controller to manage functions.

The bike also comes with heated grips, ABS, traction control and adjustable brake and clutch levers. BMW has added engine drag torque control and a height-adjustable rear brake lever as well. Overall, the base model is positioned as a practical adventure bike for daily riding and light touring.

Exclusive adds more touring features

The Exclusive variant, priced at around Rs 4.90 lakh, builds on the standard version with extra equipment focused on comfort and mild off-road use.

It gets an engine guard, knuckle guards and a taller windscreen for better protection. BMW has also added Riding Modes Pro and Shift Assistant Pro, which improve the riding experience, especially on longer trips. Off-road-style foot pegs are also part of this version, making it more suitable for trail riding than the base model.

GS Trophy is the top-spec version

At the top of the range is the GS Trophy variant, priced at about Rs 5.30 lakh (ex-showroom). It includes all the features offered in the Exclusive trim and adds more adventure-focused equipment.

This version gets adjustable sport suspension, Easy Ride Clutch and an aluminium engine guard. It also features a rally-style tinted windscreen and a tricolour paint scheme inspired by BMW’s GS Trophy models. The adjustable suspension is aimed at riders who want more control in varied riding conditions.

What changes between variants

Mechanically, all three versions remain the same, as they share the same engine and basic setup. The upgrades are mainly in terms of electronics, protection equipment and off-road-focused additions.

The base variant is aimed at riders entering the adventure segment, while the Exclusive offers more touring-friendly features. The GS Trophy sits as the most feature-loaded option for those wanting extra equipment and the distinct GS Trophy styling.
