Aligarh Muslim University Shooting: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has once again come under serious questions. The incident of shooting of a teacher inside the AMU campus has not only shaken the entire university but has also created fear in the minds of students, teachers and parents. The occurrence of such an incident in a place which is considered the center of education and security raises many questions.
What happened inside the AMU campus?
This sensational incident took place inside the AMU campus located in Civil Lines police station area of Aligarh. Here, masked attackers suddenly opened indiscriminate fire on Danish Rao, a teacher posted at LBK High School. There was chaos in the campus as soon as the sound of bullets was heard. The students and staff present nearby were frightened. Danish Rao was immediately taken to JN Medical College in injured condition, but doctors declared him dead. After this incident, there is an atmosphere of mourning and anger in the entire AMU campus.
Who was Danish Rao and why was he targeted?
Deceased teacher Danish Rao was working in LBK High School of AMU. At present the reason behind the murder is not clear. The police is investigating whether this was personal rivalry or part of a deeper conspiracy. The biggest question is how did the masked attackers reach inside the campus?

Why are questions being raised on security arrangements?
There should be strong security arrangements in a big and sensitive educational institution like AMU. But after the AMU campus shooting, it is natural to raise the question whether there was a major lapse in security arrangements? If attackers can easily break in with weapons, how safe is the safety of students and teachers?
What has happened so far in the police investigation?
As soon as information about the incident was received, Aligarh SSP Neeraj Jadaun reached the spot with heavy police force and senior officers. The entire area has been surrounded and CCTV footage of the campus is being scrutinized. The SSP said that several police teams have been formed and the search for the accused has been intensified. He assured that, “The investigation is ongoing and the accused will soon be arrested and brought to justice.”
Political reaction also intensified
Politics has also become heated regarding this incident. Samajwadi Party leader Ajju Ishaq strongly condemned the murder and targeted the Uttar Pradesh government. He said that the government’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy is limited only on paper, while criminals are roaming fearlessly on the ground. Police investigation is going on and the eyes of the entire city are fixed on this case.
