Full lunar eclipse has started in various cities of India. The lunar eclipse in India has started at 9.58 pm, while its full phase will start from 11.1 pm and will run for 12:30 pm. In this way, a full lunar eclipse will appear for about 82 minutes. During this full lunar eclipse, the whole moon will be seen red. It is also called blood moon.
Astronomers say that the partial phase of lunar eclipse begins when the moon enters within the shadow of the Earth. This time the initial phase of the lunar eclipse will start to end at 1.25 pm and will be completely finished at 2.25 am. That is, people will be able to see the moon in different colors and forms overnight.
This view will be easily visible from major cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Nainital. In the event of the weather clearing, the common people will be able to see it with their own eyes and no special equipment will be required for this.
Why does blood moon look?
During the full lunar eclipse, the moon appears red or orange, which is called blood moon. In fact, this phenomenon occurs when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon and the sunlight does not reach the moon directly.
The Earth’s atmosphere scatches the blue rays of the sun and only red rays reach the moon. For this reason, the color of the moon appears red. Scientists call this process as Rayley Scattering.
Scientists believe that lunar eclipse is very important from the point of view of astronomy, as it provides many information related to the orbit of the earth and the moon and their speed. The shadow of the Earth is divided into two parts – the inner shadow is called Umbra and the outer shadow is called penumbra. When the moon completely enters Umbra, then a full lunar eclipse occurs.
