BJP’s Pravesh Wahi is Delhi’s new mayor, defeats Congress candidate by huge margin

New Delhi: Pravesh Wahi, the BJP candidate, has become the new Delhi Mayor. He defeated Congress candidate Mohammad Zarif. A total of 165 votes were cast in the mayoral election. The Bharatiya Janata Party candidate received 156 votes, accounting for 95%. The Congress candidate secured 9 votes.

Sources said Wahi was elected Delhi Mayor after securing 156 out of 165 votes. In the MCD House, slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” were raised as Pravesh Wahi became mayor.

Wahi hails from the Khatri Punjabi community, with his family having migrated from Rawalpindi. He studied at an MCD primary school in Old Delhi and has been associated with the RSS since his early teens.
