Vikas Barala, son of BJP MP Subhash Barala, has been appointed Assistant Advocate General in Haryana. Vikas was accused of sexually harassing the daughter of a former IAS officer in 2017. This appointment has drawn severe criticism for the BJP government across the state.
The Congress has strongly condemned the incident, taunting that under saffron rule, even the accused are receiving important responsibilities.
Vikas Barala was accused of blocking a young woman’s car in Chandigarh on August 4, 2017, and attempting sexual harassment. Despite his arrest, the Punjab and Haryana High Court granted him bail in January 2018. Despite the ongoing case, his appointment on July 18 has sparked controversy. The complainant’s father has expressed deep resentment over this appointment.
