As the high-stakes battle for Bihar inches closer, the BJP has gone into full action mode to counter Mahagathbandhan’s political yatras.
It seems Union Home Minister Amit Shah is himself taking charge to ensure success of Bihar Mission 2025. Already, the BJP has begun reinforcing its organisational structure. Shah’s visit to Bihar is focused on strategy, communication and coordination. Additionally, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Shah held a closed-door meeting at a hotel in Patna. Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Sanjay Jha were also present at this meeting. Sources suggest that the discussions centred on seat-sharing arrangements and overall election strategy for the NDA in Bihar. Moreover, the HAM (Secular) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi publicly staked claim to at least 20 seats, stressing the need for the NDA leaders to show sympathy towards his party. The HAM (Secular) draws strength primarily from the Musahar caste Dalits in the central Bihar districts. Notably, Chirag Paswan’s party had 100 percent strike rate in Lok Sabha polls, winning all five seats, and now, it has now demanded for nearly 30 to 35 seats. The LJP (RV) is primarily known as a party of the Paswans among the Dalits. According to NDA sources, the JD(U) is insisting on 50:50 formula. According to party insiders, the final decision on seat sharing among NDA allies in Bihar is likely to be announced during the Navratri period, beginning September 22.
#VOTE-CHORI: PRIYANKA ASKS CITIZENS TO DEMAND ‘ONE MAN, ONE VOTE’
Congress General Secretary and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadrahas urged citizens across the country to join the party’s #VoteChori signature campaign, aimed at defending the democratic principle of ‘one man, one vote’. The Congress leader reiterated the party’s commitment to safeguarding every individual’s right to vote and protecting constitutional values that form the foundation of Indian democracy. She also alleged that the Election Commission was “colluding to weaken” the electoral process. However, Priyanka has been on a ten-day tour of Wayanad since September 11. She has met cultural icons like Cheruvayal Raman, M N Karassery, and Kalpetta Narayanan, alongside several religious leaders. She also visited tribal settlements and survivors of the Chooralmala-Mundakkai landslide. Party leaders said her outreach reinforced the Congress’s commitment to inclusive development in Wayanad.
TEJASHWI YADAV ACCUSES CM NITISH OF COPYING HIS WELFARE POLICY IDEAS
In an apparent bid to woo young voters ahead of state assembly polls, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has announced that the state government will give Rs.1,000 per month for two years to unemployed youth aged between 20-25. The amount will be provided to unemployed youths having graduation degree under ‘Mukhya Mantri Nischay Swayam Sahayata Bhatta Yojna (Mukhya Mantri Nischay Self Help Allowance Scheme) ’. Nitish Kumar also promised that in the next five years, the state aims to provide jobs or employment opportunities to one crore (10 million) young people. The government is also giving skill development training to help youth become job-ready and self-reliant. Meanwhile, addressing a rally at Bakhtiyarpur in Patna rural on the second day of his Bihar Adhikar Yatra, RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav promised the state’s people to make a new Bihar that will provide employment, respect, and security. BIHAR POLLS: CONGRESS TO HOLD CWC MEETING ON SEPT 24 IN PATNA
With an eye on Bihar elections, the Congress Working Committee will hold a meeting in Patna on Sept 24, where the leadership is slated to finetune its electoral strategy for the state and finalise its campaign on ‘vote chori’ against the BJP. This will be an extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting where the party’s Chief Ministers, State presidents and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leaders also participate with regular members and permanent and special invitees. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge will chair the meeting and would discuss the present political scenario, which is likely to be focused on state issues, including SIR of electoral rolls and over the allotment of 1050 acres of land to Adani Group for setting up a power plant at Pirpaithi in Bhagalpur district. It is seen as a party strategy to amplify its focus on the state and to enthuse workers, while also conveying to voters Congress’s seriousness about the coming political battle. The Patna CWC meeting is expected to pass a strong resolution condemning voter list irregularities and demanding strict safeguards to ensure free and fair polls.
