Birch Nightclub Fire Case: One More Arrested, Total Accused Now Nine

Team GoemkarponnAnjuna: Goa Police have arrested another key accused in the deadly fire that broke out at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora last month, claiming 25 lives.

The accused has been identified as Bijay Kumar Singh (38), a native of Jharkhand, who was working as the operations manager of the nightclub. Anjuna Police Inspector Suraj Gawas confirmed the arrest on Friday, stating that Singh is the ninth person to be taken into custody in connection with the case.

The tragic incident occurred on December 6, 2025, when a fire erupted inside the nightclub during a crowded event. At the time, over 150 tourists were present at the venue.

Investigators believe the blaze was triggered after electric firecrackers used during the programme struck the wooden ceiling, causing the structure to catch fire.

Meanwhile, the club’s owners, Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, who were earlier arrested in the case, continue to remain in judicial custody.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing as authorities work to fix responsibility for one of the deadliest nightclub disasters in the state’s recent history.
