Bill Cosby to pay $19 million to waitress he abused in 1972

Mumbai: American Comedian Bill Cosby was ordered on March 23, 2026, to pay $19 million to a waitress whom he abused in 1972. The woman, identified as Donna Motsinger, stated that the entertainer drugged and sexually assaulted her when she was working as a waitress.

During the civil hearing in California, Donna talked about how the comedian came into the restaurant and began targeting her. The 84-year-old said one day, when the actor picked her up in his limousine, he gave her a glass of wine and something that she thought was aspirin.

The woman said that this caused her to slip in and out of consciousness. She stated that when she woke up she found herself at a house in her underwear. The suit stated, “She knew she had been drugged and raped by Bill Cosby.”

Meanwhile, the attorneys who appeared for the 88-year-old said that the comedian does not have any recollection of the incident. However, argued that any of what happened was consensual.

Following the hearing, the jury took three days to deliver the verdict. Cosby was asked to pay $19.3 million to the victim.

Previously, a 2022 jury ordered Cosby to pay $500,000 to Judy Huth. Huth was molested when she was just 16 years old.

The entertainer was jailed in Pennsylvania for drugging and molesting another woman in a 2018 case. He was then released in 2021 when his conviction was overturned due to a technicality. Over the years, many women have come forward accusing Cosby of sexual abuse. He is now known to have been a serial predator who went after helpless women over four decades.
