Other smaller candidates like Ajmeri Khatoon, Nidhi Bhushan got only 531 and 522 votes respectively. In this way, out of a total of more than 2 lakh 80 thousand voters, about 58 percent people cast their vote, due to which this seat again became the center of political discussion. This election showed that BJP maintained its hold in Bihpur and pushed RJD back this time. Overall, the Bihpur Assembly election 2020 ended with the victory of Kumar Shailendra and the defeat of Bulo Mandal, allowing the BJP to retain its influence in Bhagalpur.
Bihpur Assembly Elections 2015: RJD’s victory
In 2015, RJD candidate Varsha Rani defeated BJP’s Kumar Shailendra. Varsha Rani got 68,963 votes while Shailendra got 56,247 votes. The margin of defeat was approximately 12,716 votes. During this time, this seat went to RJD’s account with the help of Grand Alliance.
Bihpur Assembly election, 2010: BJP’s victory
In 2010, BJP candidate Kumar Shailendra had defeated RJD’s Shailesh Kumar alias Bulo Mandal by a margin of just 465 votes. Shailendra got 48,027 votes and Bulo Mandal got 47,562 votes. This victory gave BJP a strong foothold in the region.

Before 1990, Congress and CPI were dominant, while Jan Sangh also won once. There was a tough fight between RJD and BJP from 2000 to 2020. The special thing is that in the year 2015, Bulo Mandal’s wife Varsha Rani won the election and hoisted the RJD flag. In 2020, BJP again fielded Kumar Shailendra and he won.
