Today Nitish Kumar will take oath as Chief Minister for the 10th time in Bihar. On Wednesday, Nitish Kumar was elected the leader of NDA. A new government is going to be formed after the landslide victory. Patna’s Gandhi Maidan is ready for the swearing-in ceremony. Apart from PM Modi, big leaders of NDA including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda will be present in this oath ceremony.
Nitish Kumar will take oath as Chief Minister at 11.30 am. The Indian Constitution says that the Chief Minister of the state also takes an oath of secrecy along with his office. Oath is administered to ministers under Article 164(3) of the Constitution. The purpose of the oath is to tell them that they will not misuse their position and will treat all citizens equally.
What is the rule of oath, what is it recited?
Oath is mentioned in Article 164 of the Indian Constitution. The rule is that the person taking the oath has to read it in a certain format. It is the responsibility of the Governor to administer the oath so that no one gets lost in reading the format. If the oath is recited incorrectly, the Governor can stop him and ask him to recite the oath correctly. The secrecy and oath of office of the Chief Minister is something like this.
I (Name) swear in the name of God that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as established by law. I will keep India’s sovereignty and integrity intact. I will discharge my duties as Chief Minister of the State of Uttar Pradesh faithfully and with a pure conscience and I will administer justice to all classes of people in accordance with the Constitution and the law, without fear or favour, affection or ill will.
I (name) swear in the name of God that any matter which is brought to my consideration as the Chief Minister of (name of the State) or becomes known to me, will not be directly or indirectly communicated or disclosed to any person or persons, except when required to do so for the due discharge of my duties as such Chief Minister.
