Bihar Sir Process: The claims and objections related to the voter list are being settled under the special intensive revision (SIR) process in Bihar. According to the Election Commission, 17,665 claims and objections have been recorded so far, out of which 454 cases have been settled.

Bihar Voter list sir: The Election Commission has settled 454 claims and objections to adding names to the voter list released after the SIR process and removing the names of ineligible voters. The Commission said in the daily bulletin released on Wednesday that the Election Office has so far received 17,665 claims and objections from voters regarding the special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar. The Election Commission released a copy of the voter list in Bihar on 1 August. However, political parties and their BLA have been given one month’s time for adding or not adding names to the format voter list.

454 cases were settled in 7 days

According to the daily bulletin, the Election Commission has received Form-6 and 74,525 forms from new voters who have completed 18 years of age from August 1 to August 13 at 10 am and 74,525 forms. In addition, the total number of voters filing claims and objections is 17,665, out of which 454 cases have been settled after 7 days. According to the rules, the concerned ERO or AERO settles these cases after 7 days after examining the eligibility of documents.

Names of about 65 lakh voters are not in voter list

The Election Commission completed the stage of calculation of SIR from 24 June and 25 July. During this process, out of a total of 7.89 crore voters, more than 7.24 crore voters submitted their counting forms. About 65 lakh voters’ names were out of the draft voter list released on 1 August. According to Election Commission data, 22 lakh deceased voters (2.83 percent), 36 lakh (4.59 percent) which have permanently settled another place and 7 lakh (0.89 percent) voters who had dual voter ID cards.

No political party filed a complaint

The special thing is that despite 12 days passing the draft voter list, no political party has filed a complaint. The opposition has been attacking the SIR process in Bihar, accusing irregularities from the beginning. The opposition alleges that the SIR process is in danger of depriving millions of voters of franchise. The Election Commission has rejected the allegations of the opposition.
