The final voter list has been released after SIR for Bihar assembly elections. The Supreme Court has sought detailed information about 3.66 lakh names removed from the voter list. The Election Commission has to give this information by 9 October.

Bihar Election 2025: Assembly elections dates have been announced in Bihar. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the Supreme Court heard the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) made in Bihar. The court asked the Election Commission to give details of 3.66 lakh voters excluded from the final voter list prepared under SIR.

Election Commission said- Complaint was not received regarding removed names

During the hearing, the Election Commission told the Supreme Court that most of the names added to the final voter list of SIR are of new voters. The names of some old voters have also been added. None of the people whose names have been removed from the voter list have not yet filed any complaint or appeal.

A bench of Justices Suryakant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi heard the petitions challenging the Bihar SIR. The bench asked the Election Commission to give information about the voters removed from the voter list by 9 October. Further hearing will be held on the same day. The Supreme Court said that since the final list has been published, the required data can be presented through comparative analysis.

Supreme Court said- more transparency came due to our orders

During the hearing, Justice Bagchi told the lawyer Rakesh Dwivedi appearing on behalf of the Election Commission that there was more transparency due to court orders. The bench said, “You will agree with us that transparency and reach in the electoral process have improved. The data appears that the names of 65 lakh people were removed in the draft list published by you. We said that whatever has been dead or transferred, it is fine, but if you are removing someone then please follow the rules 21 and please follow the standard operation process (SOP).”

Let us know that on September 30, the Election Commission published the final voter list after SIR. The Bihar assembly election program was announced on 6 October. There will be elections in two phases in Bihar. Voting will be held on 6 and 11 November. The votes will be counted on 14 November.
