SIR PROCESS BIHAR: There is a ruckus on the removal of 65 lakh names from the voter list in the Bihar SIR dispute. The RJD has filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding extending the last date for objection/claim filing. Whereas the last date to change the name is 1 September 2025.

Bihar sir controversy: 65 lakh names have been removed under the SIR process in Bihar’s voter list. The Election Commission has clearly stated that the name of any legitimate voter will not be removed in this process. The Election Commission has clarified that objections can be lodged by 1 September. After this, there will not be a chance to get the name added again. Now the main opposition party RJD has filed a petition in the Supreme Court in this case. The RJD has filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding extending the last date for objection/claim submission of draft voter list.

Hearing will be held in Supreme Court on 1 September

In the Supreme Court, lawyers Prashant Bhushan and Nizam Pasha placed the case before a bench headed by Justice Suryakant and demanded an early hearing on it. He told the court that 80 thousand people had submitted their claim before the draft voter list before the hearing on 22 August. After that 95 thousand people have submitted their claim. Prashant Bhushan said that there are still many people who are busy changing their documents and then want to register their objections. The case will be heard in the Supreme Court on Monday (September 01).

Last date for filing objections 1 September

The Election Commission has clearly stated that the last date for filing claims and objections is September 1, 2025. After this, there will be no scope for change in names. The Commission has appealed to all parties and voters to file claims and objections within the stipulated time limit so that the voter list can be prepared. The Election Commission wants no mistake in the voter list. Therefore, the Commission has appealed to all political parties to look at the voter list carefully and if there is any mistake then get it fixed. Even after this, the activation of political parties has been very low in giving objections. Out of the Grand Alliance, only RJD and CPI (Marxist) have lodged objections. At the same time, BJP, Congress and other parties are completely silent. RJD workers have filed three complaints and 79 complaints by CPI (Male) Liberation. According to the data of the Commission, a total of 1,60,813 BLAs have been appointed by political parties so far, but only 82 of these claims and objections have been received. The BJP has appointed the maximum 53,338 BLA, but no claim or objections have been received from them.
