Nalanda Sheetla Mata Mandir: A stampede broke out in the Sheetla Mata temple located in Nalanda, Bihar on Tuesday (31 March). There are reports of 8 people dead and 12 injured in this stampede. The special thing is that every Tuesday a crowd of devotees gather in this temple but such an incident has happened for the first time.

So far, 8 people have been reported dead in this stampede while more than a dozen people have been injured. Police-administration has reached the spot. Why is Shitala Mata Temple of Nalanda special?
This temple of Shitala Mata situated in Nalanda, Bihar is very ancient. Local people say that at one time smallpox disease spread in this entire area. People started getting worried due to this disease. Despite many efforts, this disease started spreading rapidly to other places also. When the Goddess appeared in a dream to a villager and asked him to dig at a particular place. On digging, an idol of the goddess was found from that place, which people installed and started worshipping. After this the smallpox disease disappeared on its own. Since then Sheetala Devi is being worshiped at this place.
