Union Minister Giriraj Singh defended CM Nitish Kumar on Hijab controversy in Bihar. He said that it is necessary to show the face while taking the appointment letter, this is India, not any Islamic country. It is not right to look at the incident through a religious lens.
Bihar Hijab Controversy: The issue of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar pulling the hijab of a Muslim woman Nusrat Parveen at a public event is gaining momentum. Meanwhile, Union Minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh on Thursday defended Nitish Kumar, saying he has done no wrong. If someone is going to get the appointment letter, will his face not be shown? Is this an Islamic country? He further said, when you go to get a passport, when you go to the airport, do you show your face or not. This is India and rule of law will prevail here. Nitish Kumar did absolutely right.
Strange tradition of linking everything with Islam
Giriraj Singh further said, if Nitish Kumar was distributing appointment letters, would anyone take the appointment letter from inside the hijab? Go to the airport and say I will not remove the hijab, let me go. This is stupid and a new tradition has started to link everything with Islam. To scare people, some issue fatwas from Punjab and some from Pakistan, as if it is their property.

Whether to do a job or not is a woman’s personal matter
When Giriraj Singh was asked whether Nusrat Parveen could refuse to take a government job, he replied that it was up to the woman to refuse a government job or go to hell. It is not right to look at this incident through a religious lens.
What is the whole matter?
Recently, a program to distribute appointment letters to newly recruited AYUSH doctors was organized at the Chief Minister’s residence in Patna. A video related to this event was shared by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on X, in which Nitish Kumar is seen on the stage with Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Health Minister Mangal Pandey. When a female doctor named Nusrat Parveen came on stage with her face covered with hijab, Nitish Kumar got angry. He asked, what is this? After this, he himself pulled down the woman’s hijab. After this, the matter gained momentum due to the video that went viral and the news came that Nusrat Parveen will no longer work as a government doctor. Let us inform that in this program, appointment letters were distributed to 1283 AYUSH doctors, which included Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Unani doctors. Of these, only 10 were given letters personally, the rest were distributed online.
