Bihar Floods: Patna, Buxar, Munger, Other Districts On High Alert Amid Surge In Ganga Water Level | Updates

The administration has shifted residents living in the flood-prone regions to community halls and temporary shelters. The district administration has been directed to continuously monitor the situation and take necessary steps to ensure safety.

Multiple Districts On Alert

The state government has stated that the water level of the Ganga has crossed the danger mark in Patna, Buxar, Munger, and Bhagalpur. The increasing water level has led to flood-like situations in other states, including Bhojpur, Bettiah, Begusarai, Khagaria, Rohtas, and Jehanabad. The disaster management department has advised the residents to maintain a distance from the water bodies to ensure safety.

As per the officials, the water level of the Ganga is rising rapidly in Gandhi Ghat and Hathidh of Patna. The authority has warned that several records are likely to be broken if the water level continues to increase at this rate. The district administration in Patna has closed all the 108 gates of the city’s protection wall to ensure safety.

Flood-Like Situation In Buxar

The officials stated that the water level of the Ganga is rising by one or two centimeters every hour in the Buxar district. The water level has increased by approximately 16 centimeters in the past 24 hours, causing a flood-like situation in the rural regions. The river waters have already entered Dhabi and Gajadhar Dera, while Sajeevan Dera is surrounded from all sides, leading to inconveniences for the locals.

Alert For Northern Districts

The officials stated that a similar situation is experienced by the residents of other districts, including Munger, Bhagalpur, and Kaimur. Apart from this, the tragedy in Nepal has also created flood-like situations in the northern districts such as Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, and Sheohar.

As per the administration, the rescue teams have been deployed in the vulnerable regions to ensure safety.
