Nominations for the first phase in Bihar elections 2025 are over, but seat distribution in the grand alliance is not decided. VIP has demanded the post of Deputy Chief Minister. At the same time, there is uneasiness in JDU due to Amit Shah’s statement on the post of CM in NDA, due to which tension is visible in both the alliances.
Patna: The time for filing nominations for the first phase of assembly elections in Bihar is over, but the Grand Alliance has not yet clarified anything on the distribution of seats. Meanwhile, alliance partner Vikassheel Insaan Party has put forward the demand for the post of Deputy Chief Minister. At the same time, Amit Shah’s statement that it cannot be said yet who will become the CM if NDA comes to power, has increased the uneasiness in the JDU camp.
In the first phase, elections are to be held on 121 seats in Bihar, for which the time for filing nominations ended at 3 pm. For the first time in history, the Grand Alliance is entering the elections without announcing seat sharing. According to information received from party sources, RJD can contest on 140 seats, Congress on 60, all left parties together can contest on 28 seats and Vikassheel Insaan Party on 15 seats.
Congress had given ticket from Jale seat to Mohammed Naushad Alam, who abused the Prime Minister’s mother, but later withdrew it under pressure from RJD. On the other hand, there was a lot of criticism for giving ticket to Osama Shahab, son of Bahubali leader Mohammad Shahabuddin, but RJD was not ready to take it back. Indicating a rift in the alliance, Vikassheel Insaan Party leader Mukesh Sahni has made public his demand for the post of Deputy Chief Minister.
There is talk of contesting elections under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, but Amit Shah’s statement in a TV interview has created a stir in the NDA that the decision on the Chief Minister will be taken by the allies together. Amidst the opposition’s allegation that after the elections, BJP will throw out JDU like a fly in the milk, Amit Shah has maintained suspense over the CM candidate. It is reported that despite meeting Nitish Kumar, Amit Shah has not opened his mind on this matter. Amit Shah is camping in Patna since yesterday to pacify Nitish Kumar who is angry over giving seats to Chirag Paswan.
