JDU has released the list of 101 candidates for Bihar elections 2025. In this, keeping in mind the Luv-Kush equation, 13 tickets have been given to Kushwaha and 12 tickets have been given to Kurmi. Extremely backward classes have got 37 seats and 13 women have also got a chance.
Patna: Before the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, Janata Dal (United) has released the list of its 101 candidates. In this list, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has once again tried to create his traditional “Lav-Kush equation” (Kushwaha-Kurmi). In this list of Nitish, an attempt has been made to completely solve the caste and social equation.
How many candidates of which caste in JDU list?
According to the released data, maximum 13 candidates are from Kushwaha community. After them, 12 tickets have been given to Kurmi community. 8 candidates each from Dhanuk and Yadav communities have been fielded. Apart from this, Bhumihar has got 9 seats, Rajput has got 10, and Brahmin community has got 2 seats. 15 candidates from Scheduled Caste category, 1 candidate from Scheduled Tribe, and 4 candidates from Minority (Muslim) category have got tickets. A total of 37 candidates have been made from extremely backward classes, which include communities like Mallah, Teli, Lohar, Rajak, Barber, Sonar, Carpenter, Paswan, Chandravanshi.
Women representation also increased
This time JDU has given tickets to 13 women. This number is slightly higher than last time. The party has tried to include women candidates from every social class. According to Nitish Kumar, “Women’s participation is a sign of the strength of democracy, and JDU has always been committed to it.”
If we look at Nitish Kumar’s social equation class wise
- Backward Class: 37 candidates
- Extremely Backward Class: 22 candidates
- General Category: 22 candidates
- Scheduled Caste: 15 candidates
- Scheduled Tribe: 1 candidate
- Minority Category: 4 candidates
2020 vs 2025: What changed in Nitish’s list?
In the 2020 assembly elections, JDU had fielded 115 candidates, in which the caste distribution was as follows…
- Most Backward Class – 19
- Yadav – 18
- Kushwaha – 15
- Kurmi – 12
- Muslim – 11
- Bhumihar – 10
- Dhanuk – 8
- Rajput – 7
- Vaishya – 3
- Brahmin – 2
- Tribe – 1
The number of Muslim, Yadav and Bhumihar candidates has decreased in the 2025 list, while the share of Kushwaha, Dhanuk and Most Backward Classes has increased. This move of Nitish Kumar is clearly being seen as an attempt to strengthen his “Luv-Kush-Dhanuk” vote bank along with caste balance.
