NDA Seat Allocation 2025: The political stir for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 has intensified. The final phase talks are still going on in the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) regarding seat sharing. If sources are to be believed, the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and JDU (Janata Dal United) have almost agreed, which can be gauged that both major parties can contest the seats in almost equal number of seats. However, the role of small parties in Bihar politics has always been decisive, and this time also the demand for seats of parties like LJP (RV) as well as HAM (s), RLM and VIP can affect the NDA equation.
Consent between BJP and JDU, but uncertainty for LJP
According to sources, BJP and JDU can contest about 100-105 seats this time. But Chirag Paswan’s party LJP (RV) is demanding 40 seats, while it is likely that they get almost half the seats. Ham (s) and RLM will also be adjusted in NDA. The policy of the VIP party may also change the final equation, because if Mukesh Sahni changes his party’s attitude, there may be a big reshuffle in seat sharing.

Record of 2020 and NDA strategy
In the last assembly election, JDU contested 115 seats and BJP in 110 seats. LJP contested 135 seats alone and won only 1 seat. However, his strategy damaged NDA, as he cut JDU votes in many seats. This time NDA leaders say that JDU will accept at least 100 seats, while BJP also wants to give seats to small parties as well.
LJP performance in Lok Sabha elections
LJP (RV) performed brilliantly in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, in which the party won all 5 seats and won more than 6% vote share. However, local issues, candidates and ground strength matters more in the assembly elections. This can prove challenging for both LJP and NDA.
LJP strategy and pressure on NDA
Chirag Paswan’s LJP recently criticized Nitish Kumar government’s law and order and indicated to be active in state politics. Experts believe that this is part of strategic pressure for more seats in NDA. The LJP aims to get 15% votes in Bihar in the next few years, compared to only 5.66% in 2020.
