Prior to Bihar elections 2025, Chirag Paswan has played a big bet for the post of deputy CM. He wants to strengthen the role of LJP-R in the NDA while fielding his brother-in-law Arun Bharti from Sikandra seat. The seat sharing talks continue.
Political stirring over Bihar assembly elections 2025 is intensifying. While LJP president Chirag Paswan is said to contest the assembly elections and become the Chief Minister by the leaders of his time, now Chirag has taken a new political step. According to sources, Chirag Paswan is planning to field his brother -in -law and Jamui MP Arun Bharti in the assembly elections and is trying his best to get him the post of deputy chief minister.
Preparation for election from Sikandra
Arun Bharti has been decided to contest from Sikandra assembly seat. Sikandra seat is reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and is also part of Jamui Lok Sabha constituency. In 2024, Arun Bharti was elected MP for the first time from this region. At present, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party Hindustan Awami Morcha (Hum) MLA Prafulla Manjhi, who is engaged in making a strong hold in this area. Prafulla Manjhi has passed BPSC Mains thrice and once in UPSC Prelims and comes from an ordinary family. This bet of Chirag on Sikandra seat is like two targets with one arrow. While the party’s participation in the electoral fray will be strong, Manjhi will also get a chance to answer.
Jamui’s Chakai seat is also in demand
Sources reveal that apart from Sikandra, the demand list of LJP includes the Chakai seat of Jamui Lok Sabha. The current MLA from Chakai seat is Sumit Singh, son of late socialist leader Narendra Singh. He is an independent MLA and also a minister in Nitish Kumar’s government. Sumit Singh is considered close to JDU. He won the election from Chakai on Jharkhand Mukti Morcha ticket in 2010 and was later elected by defeating RJD in 2020 despite defeat in 2015.
LJP’s role in Nitish -led government
Two months ago, Chirag clearly said that Nitish Kumar will be the Chief Minister in the NDA government to be formed in 2025. Regarding the post of Deputy CM, Chirag had indicated that his goal was to bring the experienced leader of LJP-R to this post. It is not hidden that the earlier statements and attitude thought that many people felt that Chirag himself is in the race for the post of Chief Minister, but now the situation is clear-Chirag is no less than the CM post and wants to promote LJP-R’s ambitious role.
Negotiations still continue in NDA regarding seat sharing
The discussion of seat sharing between NDA constituents is mainly going on between BJP and JDU. At the same time, Chirag Paswan’s LJP-R, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hum Party and Upendra Kushwaha’s party are also talking to the BJP on the names and numbers of seats. Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar has also declared the name of his JDU candidate Santosh Nirala from Rajpur seat in Buxar district, which indicates that the election preparations are in full swing.
