Bihar Assembly Election 2025 Schedule And Phase 1 Voting Time

Patna: Bihar is set for its high-stakes Assembly Election 2025, with the first phase of polling to be held today, November 6. There are a total of 243 Assembly constituencies in the state, out of which 121 are going to polls in the first phase.

The remaining 122 seats will vote in the second phase on November 11. The counting of votes is set for November 14.

Voting Time: 7 AM – 6 PM
No. of Candidates: 1314

However, due to security considerations, polling time has been curtailed to 5 pm in Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Mahishi, Tarapur, Munger, Jamalpur, and in 56 polling booths of the Suryagarha Assembly segment.

Among them are 122 women candidates, and one transgender candidate, Priti Kinnar, who is contesting on a Jan Suraj Party ticket from the Bhorey Assembly constituency in Gopalganj district.

In the first phase, new entrant Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party (JSP) has fielded 119 candidates.

In five seats that are going for polls — Rajapakar, Bachwara, Beldaur, Gaura Boram, and Bihar Sharif — the Opposition-led Mahagathbandhan alliance partners including Congress, RJD, VIP and CPI have fielded candidates against each other.

Several big names including Mahagathbandhan’s CM face Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav who floated his own political party JJD, BJP leaders and Deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, and also folk singer-turned-politician Maithili Thakur, who recently joined the BJP, are in the fray in Bihar election phase 1.

After days of high-pitched election campaigning, the key contest in Bihar is between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Opposition-led Mahagathbandhan.

Political strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor, who floated his own political outfit – Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) – is being seen as a third front, as it is contesting all 243 seats.
