New Delhi: The Election Commission of India on Monday announced the schedule for the Bihar Assembly Election 2025. Voting is to be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11. The results are to be declared on November 14, coinciding with the outcome of bypolls in eight Assembly constituencies across seven states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Telangana, Punjab, Mizoram, and Odisha.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that elections will be held for all 243 Assembly seats in Bihar, with the term of the current House ending on November 22. Of these, 38 seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes and two for Scheduled Tribes.
Citizens who do not possess voter cards can also vote, says ECI
Meanwhile, the ECI has clarified that citizens who do not possess a Voter ID card can still cast their vote by presenting any one of 12 alternate photo identity documents approved by the commission.
These include a passport, driving license, PAN card, Aadhar card, bank or post office passbook with photo, MNREGA job card, pension document with photograph, and official ID cards issued to government employees, MPs, MLAs, or MLCs, among others.
However, the ECI has specified that photo voter slips will not be accepted as valid identification of their own.
